Carlisle - British Racecourse
Located just north of The Lake District a stone’s throw from Scotland.
Set in open countryside, the undulating course provides racing 11 months of the year with Jump meetings from October to April and Flat meetings between May and September. Situated between the Borders and the Lake District, Carlisle provides tourists with an ideal opportunity for a day out at the races. Stamina is an important factor here as the course is galloping in nature and the uphill finish offers a real sting in the tail. Each year in June, the track features the Cumberland Plate and Carlisle Bell carrying on a tradition which dates back to the 17th century.
Flat - Right-handed, 1 1/2m pear-shape, galloping and against collar over last 4f.
National Hunt - Right-handed, undulating, stiff and galloping. A Circuit of 1m 5f.
