Catterick Bridge - British Racecourse

One of the true homes of the Northern racing scene.

About Catterick Bridge Racecourse:

Racing at Catterick Bridge began as early as the mid-17th Century and the first recorded meeting took place on April 22nd 1783, but it was not until 1813 that a permanent course was created. Today, Catterick is a charming blend of old and new.  The framework of the old 1906 stand is still evident in the present Grandstand but many alterations and improvements have taken place while maintaining the informal atmosphere.  As a dual purpose track it hosts 17 Flat meetings and 10 National Hunt. The Yorkshire Racing Year starts with Catterick's popular New Year's Day meeting and ends with its meeting on December 28th. Dogs are allowed on leads into the Course Enclosure. Under 18’s are admitted free to all enclosures when accompanied by an adult

Course Details: Flat- Left-handed 1m1f oval, undulating and very sharp with handiness essential.

National Hunt- Left-handed, sharp and undulating, suiting handy types. A Circuit of 1m 3f.

Getting there, directions and parking:

Train - Darlington is the most conveniently situated railway station, approximately 15 miles from the Racecourse.  Buses run regularly from Darlington railway station to Richmond town centre. The Racecourse then provides a shuttle bus from the Town Hall to the Racecourse approximately one hour prior to racing, returning after the last race

Bus - Alternatively Proctor buses Dales and District service (X34) runs from Tubwell Row, Darlington railway station, and have a stop outside the Racecourse. This is not a regular service and times may vary.

Parking - The main car parks are free of charge and provide access to both enclosures.  However should you require trackside viewing there is a reserved car park at the south end of the site, on hard standing, where the charge is usually £3 per car.  Disabled Parking is also located here.
