Ayr - British Racecourse
Scotland's premier racecourse
Ayr racecourse opened in 1907. The Scottish Grand National in April and the Ayr Gold Cup in September are its biggest meetings and attract bumper crowds. A left-handed circuit, it is about a mile and a half round with a straight six furlongs. Another of its main features is the Western Meeting on the Flat in September that features the Ayr Gold Cup. The course suits long-striding gallopers and is a great test of stamina in rain-softened conditions. Free entry for children under the age of 18.
Left-handed 1 1/2m oval, galloping with minor undulations.
National Hunt Jumps:
Left-handed, mainly flat. A Circuit of 1m 4f.
