Chester - British Racecourse
Racing dating back to 1539, the oldest racecourse in Britain, possibly the world.
About Chester Racecourse:
One of the most popular tracks in the world, Chester's facilities blend in well with the ancient charm of the course where racing enthusiasts can elect to watch the action from viewpoints as diverse as the Roman walls overlooking the track or the modern County Stand. The three-day May meeting and the Sunday fixture in August attract huge crowds and it is advisable to arrive early. A round, tight, left-handed track, the action is never far away and the contours provide exhilarating, non-stop action. Children aged 17 and under are admitted free into all areas when accompanied by an adult. No tickets are necessary; however, children entering the County Enclosure or County Long Room require a junior badge which can be picked up from the box office on your race day.
Left-handed, flat, just over 1m round with short run-in. Very sharp, not favouring long-striding horses.
Getting there, directions and parking:
Train – The Euston line goes direct to Chester General Station where you can pick up a bus to the racecourse on race days.
Parking - Car parking is available on the Open Course, which is located in the centre of the racecourse. It can be purchased on the day but may be limited and operates on a first come first served basis. It is advisable to purchase in advance when booking tickets. Car parking usually costs £11 on Family Funday and £8 for all other fixtures.
