About Hexam Racecourse:
A warm and friendly welcome always awaits at the only racecourse in Northumberland and one of the most scenic in the country. Situated 600 feet above Hexham the steeplechase course hosts 15 race meetings a year. The season runs from spring to autumn with several weekend, bank holiday fixtures and popular evening meetings. In 2015 Hexham celebrated 125 years of racing. The highlight of Hexham’s racing calendar is the Northumberland National which is run in November. Dogs are allowed at the racecourse, strictly on leads at all times. Children aged 17 and under are free if accompanied by an adult.
Left-handed, severe and undulating, placing emphasis on stamina. A Circuit of 1m 4f.
Getting there, directions and parking:
Driving - If you are using Sat Nav to find the racecourse make sure you use the postcode NE46 2JP and not that for the racecourse office.
Train – Nearest train station is Hexham railway station
Bus - On race days there are two courtesy buses, laid on by the racecourse, which run from Hexham Railway Station with a pick-up at the Bus Station and return from the course after the meetings. These run on a 'first come, first served' basis and the pick-up times are shown on the racecourse website news page a few days before each meeting. The service is run by Tyne Valley Coaches Acomb Hexham.
Parking - There is ample free parking at the course and disabled parking spaces, which are marked on the above racecourse plan. There is also a special wheelchair viewing section near the paddock.
