Chepstow - British Racecourse

About Chepstow Racecourse:

Conveniently located between Bristol and Cardiff, the racecourse is just a few miles from the M4. Chepstow races throughout the year, including weekends, evenings and Bank Holidays. Other highlights include the traditional start to the National Hunt Season in October, concert race nights and popular themed nights. Best known for its top-class National Hunt fixtures, Chepstow also offers a busy Flat programme. The track is a long, undulating, two-mile circuit that represents a real stamina test, particularly in soft ground which is often the case for jumps fixtures. All children 17 and under are admitted free of charge when accompanied by a paying adult.

Course Details: Flat- Left-handed oval, undulating, 1m 7f round with 4 1/2f run-in. Races up to 1m on straight course. Extremes of going is quite common.

National Hunt- Left-handed and undulating. Going can be very testing. It is a 1m7f circuit.

Getting there, directions and parking:

Train – Chepstow station is approximately 10 minutes’ walk from the town centre. There are direct trains to Chepstow from Birmingham, Cardiff, Cheltenham Spa, Derby, Gloucester, Newport and Nottingham. Connections are available at Newport for London (Paddington), Hereford, Shrewsbury, Crewe, Manchester, Swansea and all parts of Wales. Also, Bristol, Bath, Exeter, Salisbury and Portsmouth and all parts of the South and West of England.

Bus - A bus shuttle service provided by Newport Transport operates from Chepstow Train Station to the Racecourse via the town’s bus station. The service also operates from Newport to the course from the city’s train station. Racegoers pay around £3 for a return ticket, while those travelling from Newport pay around £5 for a return journey. Please note that race times are subject to change, it is therefore advisable to check with Chepstow Racecourse for up-to-date times.
