About Leicester Racecourse:
Leicester racecourse is one of the smaller courses in Britain, but has plenty to be proud of, with a history dating back over 100 years, 200 acre grounds and 32 race meetings in its annual calendar. History Established in 1882, after transferring from Victoria Park, Leicester Racecourse has paid host to many famous horses in its history including Zilzal, Time Charter and Silver Buck, a jumping legend. Grand National winners Corbiere and Seagram have also made appearances on the course.

Course Details: Flat races of under a mile are run on the straight course. Longer races are run right handed on the oval course of 1 mile 5 furlongs.
The jump course is a true test of stamina. The course is 1 mile 6 furlongs with ten fences, including two open ditch's and one water jump. It is a right handed, undulating course, and with the last three furlongs uphill, horses are tested to the limit.
Flat- Right-handed, undulating oval, about 1m6f round with 5f run-in.
National Hunt- Right-handed and undulating, placing emphasis on stamina. A Circuit of 1m 6f.
Getting there, directions and parking:
Train – It is only 2 miles from Leicester Train Station. When you exit the train station head southbound on the A6 (London Road) towards Oadby. You can either walk the 2 miles, get in a taxi from the taxi rank located inside the train station or catch a bus.
Bus - The most direct bus to the Racecourse is the Arriva Sapphire 31 and 31A. If you are coming from Leicester City Centre the stop you need to get off at is the Oadby Glebe Road bus stop which is across the road from the Racecourse. If you are coming from Oadby you need the Oadby Meadowcourt Road bus stop.
Parking - Parking at Leicester Racecourse is free of charge and is situated on the main car park at the front of the course. (This is a grassed car park). There is also a Picnic car park which is available from £44 per car (Subject to weather conditions) and provides you with a parking space right next to the course and allows you to bring your own picnic to eat whilst you’re enjoying the day’s action. The Picnic car park is closed for the National Hunt Season.
